A 73 year old St. George resident has been arrested and charged for setting fire without giving notice.

The charge was laid against Eric Gill, a Mechanic of Mt. Gay, on Wednesday 9th January, 2019.

Gill who has been placed on two thousand dollars bail will appear at the St. George’s Magistrate’s Court on March 12th 2019 to answer to the charge.

According to Section 147 of the Criminal Code CAP 72 of the 2010 Continuous Revised Laws of Grenada requires every person who intends to set fire, or to cause a fire to be set to give notice to all their neighbours.

The Fire Department has stated that it is taking a zero tolerance approach to the setting of Agriculture Fires without permission.
